22 Jun Overcoming Fear & Anxiety
Fear results in not having enough of someone, and that’s Jesus. If you don’t have enough Jesus, you also probably have too much pride. Ultimately, it’s not that you need more of Jesus, but less of yourself. You’ve got to be vulnerable and admit, Lord I crave you, I need you, and I can’t do this alone.
Too much fear then of course leads to anxiety and stress, which can spiral into depression and sickness if you don’t shine light on it. Sin grows in the darkness and that’s where Satan thrives, but sin is defeated in the light where God is glorified and people are vulnerable and authentic, loving others so well.
Once you’ve realized who your creator is and what you were created for, you are going to crave a relationship with Jesus and knowledge of him. You were created to worship and know Jesus, to have a relationship with him. God casts our fear in his perfect love,
1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Until recently, I was oblivious to the fact that I’ve been living in fear. I went to the 5 pm service at Passion City Church with Korie and Willie Roberston. In closing, Louie said that there’s Sadie‘s in the room living in fear and asked Korie the advice that she had for them. Instantly, I knew God was calling me out and I had the Jesus tingles, it was wild. Louie had Korie pray for us at the end, and raise our hands if we were living in fear while everyone had their eyes shut. I am not normally one to raise my hand, but Jesus was calling me so I proceeded. I did an entire video on my takeaways from the service in this post and video.
Louie shared so much wisdom: We have the spirit of God in us, so what do we have to fear?God has greatness on so many young people in this room who are living in fear. You’re on God’s radar and you can do everything he has called you to do. It’s no coincidence that you’re in this room and hearing this message at this moment. Our power is from God, and there’s nothing that can overcome that.
I haven’t been living in fear of the thoughts of others, but the fear of the future and what if’s.. without realizing it. I wouldn’t say that fear controls my life, but it has kept me from going all-out and putting everything into my blog and YouTube. I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason and it’s all part of God’s plan, even if we don’t understand it. We are not supposed to understand everything God does and he doesn’t owe it to us to explain himself becuase we are not God. I did an entire video on my anxiety, ADD, & depression here.
The lord himself commands us not to fear. Pray for wisdom, more patience & less pride, that the power of the holy spirit would work through you, for God to transform your life, and being a light to others. Share your experiences with God (your testimony) and the greatest act of love in history. God gives us a purpose bigger than ourselves, and with that the ability to overcome anything.
People feel comfortable in the vulnerability of others. Your confidence is God’s confidence. I read something in Jesus Calling the other day and loved it,
“When you try to peer into the future and plan for every possibility, you ignore your constant companion, who sustains you moment by moment.”
Y’all this is the cold, hard truth, and it’s soooo good. Are you living in fear or anxiety and ignoring Jesus? Be honest with yourself and face the facts. It’s not a coincidence that you’re reading this, God is trying to communicate with you.. whatever fear you’re living in. Ask for God’s help,
Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
If this post resonated with you in any way or God spoke to you, please let me know. I strive to live my life in a way that glorifies Jesus and shines his light through loving others well and sharing my story. Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a fabulous week!
