12 Aug Nordstrom Anniversary Sale top picks
I want to preface this post by stating that I am not a frequent Nordstrom shopper. It is by far my favorite department store, but I don’t live near one, so I’ve always ordered online. I purchase items here from my favorite high-end designers if not from the designer directly. I don’t plan on purchasing anything from the sale this year since I just moved to a new city and graduated college in this economy. Things from Nordstrom don’t typically go on sale, so the anniversary sale is a big deal. If you were planning on purchasing any of these items, now is the time to do so…they won’t be on sale later.
Sweaters & Coats
I’m a huge advocate for Barbour coats because they really hold their value and last forever! The quality is impeccable. I have Barbour coats in two styles: a quilted black coat and an olive wax coat. I’ve had the olive coat since early high school (6+ years) and purchased the quilted coast last fall. Coats are a piece to invest in, and I really stress quality over quantity. I have had the better sweater jacket from Patagonia for a few years and you need it! It’s great for wearing under my Barbour coats when I need an extra layer or for a long run on a cooler day.
While I don’t personally own any Spanx pants or leggings, I’ve heard they’re amazing–especially the faux leather leggings and work pants! Madewell has some of the best jeans. I am loving these black boyfriend jeans.
Accessories & Beauty
Tory Burch bags seem to last forever. I have the same line of bag in three different sizes, all in black, because I love them so much. Don’t forget to add a matching wallet. I’ve had my Longchamp tote since middle school, and it’s great for traveling since it folds up for storage. I often use my Longchamp for my carry-on bag on the airplane. I’m eyeing this watch. I have both of these hoops (small, large) in gold from Kendra Scott and wear them a few times per week–they’re a staple in my wardrobe. I swear by the All Nighter setting spray from Urban Decay.

Lounge & Active
I love the items that I’ve featured in this post, but you can definitely find similar dupes from Target for much cheaper, depending on the item. Note that what you pay for is typically what you get. However, I am a firm believer in the notion of quality over quantity–but not on trendy items. If you would like me to do a Nordstrom dupes post featuring items from Target, let me know. What are you purchasing from the Nordstrom anniversary sale? Happy shopping!
